Cold Dismissal

The following afternoon, Gideon drove Valerie to Oakhaven City University. They arrived at the main gate with some time to spare before her lecture.

"I'll pick you up after the lecture," Gideon said, pulling Valerie into a gentle kiss before letting her go. His voice was warm and affectionate.

"Okay," Valerie replied, stepping out of the car and heading towards the university.

She had barely enter
