A Vow in the Dark

Wood splinters rained down around my boots, settling deep into the woven fibers of the rug. The deafening crack of the heavy kitchen door giving way under my relentless force still echoed in my ears. I stood rigid in the archway, my chest heaving with exertion, claws fully extended and ready to draw blood. I stared at the chaotic tableau that had just unfolded in my living room. Soren wa
