Hayley thought irritably, 'Tess was indeed beautiful and outstanding, but does this allow her to say such hurtful things in front of someone else's idol?'

She exclaimed, "So what if she's pretty? Others might indulge her, but I won't!"

Betty jumped in fright and quickly waved her hand. "Stop it! If Ms. Falkner hears us, we'll both be in big trouble!"

Hayley snorted but didn't say anything more.
