Shattered Facade

"Derek, you told me I didn't have my memories back then because I was sick. I was grateful, thinking you didn't abandon me even though I was ill. But now I know the truth. I lost my memory. I forgot what happened, not because I was sick, but because I was unconscious for so long."

Derek's expression gradually crumbled, and he avoided Tess's gaze out of guilt.

"You always claimed it was for my own
