An Unexpected Threat

Alaric blinked. Looking at Valerie's angry face, an idea flashed through his mind as if he had caught something. "Valerie, what are you mad about?"

"I'm not angry," She retorted.

"But your expression now betrays you," he didn't want to let it go because he wanted to know whether what he had guessed was true.
