An Unexpected Invitation

Valerie saw the fleeting sadness in Carmen's eyes, thus patting her shoulder. "It's fine. We've grown up and won't be smacked again. Our moms are watching over us from above."

A smile played about Carmen's lips. She nodded.

Valerie was stunned. "Carmen, you look good when you smile."

Unfortunately, Carmen's smile vanished.

After that incident, Valerie and Carmen became closer.
