Unbroken Ties

Friday came. Gideon returned to Sterling Manor to pick up Rowan.

"Where are we going?" he asked.

Rowan hadn't seen his dad for several days and had assumed he wouldn't see him this weekend either. But to his surprise, when he came home from school today, his dad was there waiting for him—and even wanted to take him out.

"We're going to see your mommy's parents," Gideon said.

"Huh?" The words sound
