Morning came quickly. I wasn’t prepared for this because I was mentally and physically exhausted from yesterday. My body felt heavy, like someone had replaced my bones with wet sand during the night.

Even opening my eyes felt like work. For a few seconds, I lay there staring at the unfamiliar ceiling, waiting for that strange disorientation to pass the one that had become my unwanted
