Today will be my last day in California.

The thought alone filled my chest with a strange mix of relief and fear. Relief because I finally won the elders judgment.

Fear because even though I won, I didn’t know if I truly won Valeria’s heart back or if I even still had a place there.

But one thing was clear:

I was not leaving this country without my kids and without Valeria.
