“Why did you bring the kids here?” I snapped at the nanny, my voice sharper than I intended.

She flinched immediately, her grip tightening on Celia’s tiny hand as Orion peeked around her leg with wide, confused eyes.

Guilt prickled my chest, but it was already too late, the words had left my mouth like a whip.
