Valeria’s Pov

I woke up in a place I didn’t know. My eyes stared at the white ceiling above me. Where am I? I whispered to myself, my voice dry and rough. The room smelled like medicine, and for a moment, I thought maybe I was dreaming.

My head hurt badly when I turned it to the side. That’s when I saw the IV tube in my arm and heard the soft beep-beep of a machine next to me. My heart jumped.
