The guards dragged me out of the room as I kept telling him I was innocent, screaming the words until my throat burned, but Alpha Gideon didn’t even glance my way.

He didn’t give a damn about anything I said. His back was the only thing I saw as he walked away, his steps echoing in my head like a death sentence.

“I didn’t kill her!” I cried again, my voice breaking, my legs scraping
