The Return of Nyxia Orion

Deep within the high-tech confines of Mirari Entertainment, Bianca handed over a shimmering star mask. The studio's neon lighting caught the sleek, polished surface of the prop.

Vivian took the cool material in her hands. As she slipped it over her face, she felt a sudden, electric pull of magic surge through her veins. It was a familiar, thrilling rush she had not allowed herself to experience in four agonizing years of playing the obedient wife.

Beside her, little Hazel happily grabbed a matching, smaller pink mask. "Mommy, this is fun! Are we playing dress-up?" The little girl giggled, securing the pink stars over her eyes. She remained blissfully unaware of the massive platform they were about to enter.

"We are doing a live stream, sweetie," Vivian said, adjusting the strap on Hazel's head with a warm smile.

Bianca flashed a thumbs-up from behind the monitors. The camera went live.

Only a sparse number of viewers trickled into the virtual room at first. Vivian did not care. She leaned into the high-end microphone, her voice shifting effortlessly into the lively, engaging tone of her dormant alter ego. "Hey, everyone, it's your buddy Nyxia Orion!"

A wave of confused question marks popped up in the chat.

"I know, you must be wondering where I went," Vivian continued smoothly. "I took four years off due to marriage and motherhood. But I am back."

As the chat began to populate, intense skepticism arose. Users doubted the claim.

*Is this some kind of joke?*

*Nyxia Orion is a legendary influencer with tens of millions of dormant fans. You expect us to believe she would just return out of nowhere without a massive marketing campaign?*

*Fake! If this isn't the real Nyxia, I'm out of here.*

Unfazed by the digital doubt, Vivian smiled faintly beneath her mask. She reached over, picked up a sleek acoustic guitar, and strummed a beautiful chord. She sang a short, soulful melody, her unique vocal tone ringing clear through the studio. Then, setting the guitar down, she transitioned into performing a flawless close-up magic trick. A silver coin vanished from her knuckles and reappeared behind Hazel’s ear, timed with a witty joke about inflation.

The live chat erupted into chaos.

*It's Nyxia Orion. It's really her!*

*I used to watch her streams religiously. I could recognize her style blindfolded!*

Ecstatic, long-time fans flooded the room. The screen lit up with flashy, colorful animations as expensive digital gifts poured in by the second.

Watching the virtual money stack up, Vivian remembered the past. She had foolishly abandoned this massive passion and empire simply because the conservative, elitist Thorne family disapproved of her internet fame. They viewed her online presence as degrading and cheap. She had locked away her true self just to appease them.

Determined to set new boundaries, she reached out to her control panel. She disabled the monetization and gift functions on the stream.

"It's been four years. Thank you all so much for remembering me," she announced gracefully. "Today is just about catching up. There is no need for gifts."

She slipped right back into her dynamic, multi-talented persona. Switching from witty banter to sweet innocence, she eventually drew a shy, giggling Hazel into the frame to join in on the singing and light dancing.

Across the city, however, Declan’s mood hit an abysmal low. The viral video of his alleyway divorce confrontation had made him a reluctant, mocked internet celebrity.

His phone buzzed incessantly. Close friends in high society kept calling to offer backhanded sympathy.

"You split up? What a pity," one prominent heir drawled over the line.

Declan hung up and tossed the phone onto his mahogany desk. He scoffed inwardly, his pride wounded. He was disgusted by the idea of anyone pitying his loss of a woman he considered so conniving and manipulative.

Adding massive amounts of fuel to his raging fire, Lance Mercer made headlines again. During his own massive e-commerce live broadcast earlier that day, Lance faced a barrage of questions about the viral video. Instead of dodging the rumors, Lance publicly and passionately confessed his long-standing admiration for Vivian. He openly vowed to pursue her now that she was a free woman.

*The woman I discarded is his longtime favorite. Is he implying I am blind?* Declan fumed silently. His jaw clenched so tightly it ached.

Desperate to escape the suffocating pity and his own dark thoughts, Declan abandoned his paperwork. He skipped lunch and stormed out of the Thorne Group headquarters, heading straight to the exclusive Crimson Club to drown his mounting frustrations in premium alcohol.

Inside the dim, plush booth at Crimson Club, Jared Caldwell casually swiped through a tablet with an amused smirk. "Can't believe your wife is such a hit on the internet today," Jared commented lightly, referencing Lance's viral confession.

"Ex-wife," Declan retorted, his voice dripping with freezing hostility.

Sensing the dangerous tension rolling off Declan in waves, Jared wisely dropped the subject and went back to scrolling.

Sitting across the table, Gideon Ashburn leaned forward. He swirled his amber drink and chimed in with his own cynical theory. "There is nothing to regret about losing a woman like that," Gideon scoffed. He confidently predicted that Vivian leaving the marriage without fighting for Declan's wealth or custody was merely a calculated strategic move. "I bet you anything, within three days, she'll come crawling back with the kid in tow, crying and begging you to reconcile. If you cave in, you're playing right into her manipulative hands."

The thought that Vivian wasn't sincere about the divorce lightened the heavy, suffocating knot in Declan's chest. Even so, his deep-seated annoyance toward her lingered heavily. He took another long sip of his drink.

Suddenly, Jared gasped loudly. He jumped in his seat, excitedly shoving his glowing tablet toward Declan's face. "Huh, Nyxia Orion's back? Declan, our corporate plans for entering the Vertexia market might actually be hopeful now!"

Though irritated by the sudden interruption, Declan’s razor-sharp business instincts never slacked. He set his glass down and glanced at the masked streamer moving fluidly on the screen. He assessed her massive viewership numbers climbing in the corner of the stream.

"You handle this matter first. Contact her team," Declan ordered authoritatively.

"Got it," Jared nodded enthusiastically. He started to pull the tablet back, before pausing. Squinting closely at the screen, Jared leaned in and nudged Declan’s arm. "Hey... don't you think Nyxia Orion looks kinda like your ex-wife?"
