Declan clutched his grandma tightly, unable to break away to assess her condition. Seeing Gwen so emotional, he could not shake the fear that something dire had occurred to his grandma. He urged, "Take a breath. Tell me exactly what happened."

Gwen cried in tears, "Mrs. Hawthorne isn't breathing."
