Declan's face crumpled slightly. "Serena, stop being difficult," he pleaded. "Mom just wants what's best for us."
I wasn't interested in Declan's weak attempt to play peacemaker. He was the one stalling this divorce out of wounded pride. I was ready to sign the papers.
"Actually, I think Mrs. Ashford is right," I said with a fake smile. "We are getting a divorce. I should start acting like it."
