Maeve's POV

After Jace finished eating, I carried him to the bathroom for a bath.

Sitting in the bathtub, he kept splashing the water on me, grinning from ear to ear.

I joked, "You bad boy. If you splash me again, I'll splash you back!"

Just then, the bathroom door opened.

I turned to see Gideon standing in the doorway, and I barely had time to wipe that smile off my face.
