"Sadie probably won't be cool with it," I said.

Knowing how Gideon used to take her side unconditionally, I worried that she'd mess up my whole plan simply by a word of complaint.

Gideon ran his hand over my head, his eyes flashing a chill. "Just ignore her. It's not her call. I'm the one calling the shots," he snapped.

Feeling reassured by his promise, I snuggled closer into his arms.
