As the wheels whirled through the night, I drove away from Iron Fang Pack and headed for 88 Marina Avenue.

Vance was not at all quiet. He roared with discontent in my mind.

"Why did we leave her?" he asked. There was an obvious complaint in his tone.

"She needed time," I said, trying my best to sound calm.

"Time? We almost finished marking her!" he retorted. "She's the mate we chose.
