Only then did Liora remember that Tobias had slipped a letter into Kaelen's hands earlier.

Since the letter was for Kaelen, she wasn't going to pry, and even though she was curious, she didn't ask.

Kaelen mentioned the letter because he didn't plan on hiding what was in it. "It was short. Tobias said he'd quietly look for evidence to clear my name and that he hoped I'd treat you well."
