Elena Is Doomed

The heavy mahogany doors swung inward, the brass handle releasing with a sharp click that cut through the oppressive silence of the top-floor executive suite.

Every gaze in the grand conference room snapped toward the entrance. Elena stepped over the threshold, her chin held high despite the raw tension tightening her shoulders. The rhythmic hissing of her grandfather's oxygen tank was the only sound greeting her arrival.

"Elena, you arrogant b*tch. What the hell are you doing here?" Victor roared, shattering the quiet. He slammed his palms against the long glass table, pushing himself to his feet. He glared at her, his eyes bloodshot from days of endless stress. "You better scram before I call security!"

The rest of the Stanton family quickly joined the offensive, their venomous glares pinning her to the spot. They assumed she had come to gloat over their fresh misery. Bitter murmurs and sharp curses filled the stagnant air, demanding her immediate departure.

Elena ignored their hostility. Her eyes bypassed her furious uncles and landed straight on Winston. She hurried over to the head of the table, her footsteps muffled by the plush carpet. Her heart ached seeing her frail grandpa strapped to a plastic oxygen mask, his skin an ashen gray beneath the harsh fluorescent lights.

"How are you doing, Grandpa?" she asked softly, her voice trembling with genuine concern. Despite the cruelty of her exile, he was still family.

"I'm doing fine," Winston replied, his tone weary. He refused to look her in the eye. Turning his head toward the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, he suddenly looked ten years older, a broken man clinging to the final shreds of his pride. "Just go back to your rented room."

Before Elena could formulate a response, Kaelen moved. He stepped past her with a commanding presence, dominating the room. Reaching into his jacket, he pulled out a pristine folder and forcefully threw the signed transfer contract onto the center of the massive glass table. The papers fanned out across the polished surface with a loud smack.

"Lena's here to officially take over Stanton Corporation today," Kaelen declared, his voice echoing off the wood-paneled walls. He pointed at the scattered pages. "This is the exact contract you desperately signed yesterday. You can all scram after the handover is complete!"

Shock swept through the quiet room like a hurricane. The Stanton family froze, their eyes darting from the legal documents to Elena, then back again.

Kaelen sneered openly, relishing their horror. He had just officially confirmed that Elena was the mysterious, ruthless buyer who had orchestrated their financial downfall.

Victor’s face twisted into an ugly mask of rage. He pointed a furiously trembling finger at Elena. "You! You're that vile b*stard who took advantage of us!" He rounded the table, fists clenched. "Give us back our company right now, or I'll beat you to death!"

The room erupted into chaos. Furious beyond reason, the younger, hot-headed relatives grabbed whatever they could reach. Heavy metal pens, thick leather-bound folders, and porcelain coffee cups became projectiles. They hurled the objects toward Elena, aiming to punish her for their humiliation.

Kaelen moved in a blur. He stepped in front of Elena, his broad shoulders acting as an impenetrable shield. He deflected a flying coffee cup with a casual swat of his hand, sending it shattering against the far wall. He stood flawless and unbothered, protecting her from the barrage.

"On the count of three," Kaelen's chilling, booming voice sliced through the chaos, freezing everyone in their tracks. "If you guys continue acting rudely, we'll immediately leave and the legal purchase will be invalid. Get ready to face complete bankruptcy and lose your homes!"

The terrifying threat immediately halted the physical attack. The raised fists slowly lowered as the reality of their situation sank in. If Kaelen tore up that contract, the bank would seize everything. Their sprawling mansions, their imported luxury cars, their hidden assets—all gone.

Even Winston, breathing heavily through his mask, suddenly found a small silver lining. He stared at Elena through tired eyes. At least his beloved life's work was staying firmly within the Stanton bloodline. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but it was better than falling prey to random, greedy outsiders determined to strip the company for parts.

Ignoring the seething relatives, Kaelen guided Elena forward. He gently sat her down in the massive leather chairman’s seat—the very throne Winston had occupied for decades.

Kaelen leaned casually against the edge of the glass table, crossing his arms. He looked down at the pale faces around him. "Actually, maybe we should just terminate the purchase right now and let you all go bankrupt. What do you think, Lena?"

Panic flared in Derek’s eyes. Terrified of instantly losing his sprawling estate to the aggressive bank, he shoved his pride aside. He squeezed out an ugly, forced smile and rubbed his hands together.

"Elena, my dearest niece..." Derek stammered, sweating under Kaelen's icy glare. "We were far too irrational just now. Emotions are running hot, you know? Should we properly proceed with the company handover?"

Elena leaned back in the luxurious leather chair, her expression cool. "I'm officially no longer a part of the Stanton family," she replied sarcastically, throwing their previous cruel words right back at them. "I don't deserve to be called your niece."

Derek’s face flushed a deep, humiliating red, but he kept his mouth shut.

His son, Nolan, however, lacked basic survival instincts. Infuriated by her arrogance, the foolish younger cousin slammed his hands on the table.

"You're way out of line, you b*tch!" Nolan loudly cursed her out, his face contorted in rage. "I'd rather go bankrupt and live on the streets than serve you!"

Derek spun around, panic hijacking his senses. If Nolan ruined their last lifeline, they were dead. He raised his hand and aggressively slapped his own son hard across the face. The sharp crack echoed loudly in the silent room.

"B*stard!" Derek roared, grabbing Nolan by the collar. "Hurry up and apologize to the chairman right now, or you're not my son anymore!"

Frightened out of his wits by his father’s rare, explosive fury, Nolan clutched his stinging cheek. He looked at Elena, his bravado crumbling.

"I-I'm sorry," he stuttered, forcing out a weak apology.

Unable to bear the suffocating humiliation a second longer, Nolan ripped himself out of his father's grasp and bolted out of the massive building.

He rushed through the grand lobby and pushed out into the crisp air. Deep frustration boiled in his veins as he fumbled for a cigarette. He leaned against a concrete pillar outside the main entrance, furiously smoking, trying to calm his racing heart.

Suddenly, the smooth purr of a high-end engine caught his attention. A sleek, black Maybach pulled up to the curb, tires kissing the concrete. The rear door swung open.

Arthur Blakely, the wealthiest and most feared man in all of Bancroft, stepped out hurriedly. He smoothed his tailored suit, his face set in a hard, urgent line. His son, Jaxon, followed closely behind, looking equally anxious.

Nolan’s jaw dropped. The cigarette slipped from his fingers and hit the pavement.

His mind raced, quickly connecting the dots. The Blakely family had publicly humiliated Elena by canceling the engagement. Now, the patriarch himself was showing up at Stanton Corporation? There was only one logical explanation. They had come to settle scores with Elena. Arthur Blakely was here to crush her into the dirt for daring to show her face again.

Pure, malicious excitement erased Nolan's previous humiliation. Eager to witness her destruction, he turned and raced back upstairs as fast as his legs could carry him.

When Nolan reached the top floor, the heavy conference room doors were wide open. He found his defeated family slowly walking out into the hallway. They carried small cardboard boxes packed with personal belongings. The official handover was complete. They had officially lost everything.

Victor looked up, his face sour. "What are you running for?"

"Dad! Uncle!" Nolan shouted, breathless but grinning from ear to ear. "People from the powerful Blakely family are here! They’re here to settle the scores with that b*tch!"

The depressing atmosphere vanished in a flash. Thrilled by the amazing news, the desperate Stanton brothers exchanged wild, hopeful glances. If Arthur Blakely destroyed Elena, she wouldn't get to sit on her high horse for long.

The elevator chimed at the end of the hallway. The metallic doors slid open.

The Stanton family hurriedly rushed down the corridor, forming a makeshift greeting line. They eager to curry favor with the powerful arrivals.

Arthur Blakely strode down the hall, his commanding presence demanding immediate respect. Jaxon flanked him, eyes scanning the crowd.

Victor smoothed his tie and stepped forward with a sycophantic smile. "Greetings, Mr. Blakely. What an honor. Are you—"

"Where's Ms. Stanton?" Arthur interrupted, his voice sharp and impatient. His intimidating aura swept over the group, stunning the family into silence.

Derek swallowed hard, nervous and shaking under the billionaire's heavy gaze. "She's... she's currently inside," he stuttered, pointing a trembling finger toward the closed conference room doors at the end of the hall.

Without sparing them another word or a second glance, Arthur brushed past the Stanton brothers. He led his son directly toward the closed conference room.

The Stanton family stood frozen for a split second before morbid curiosity took over. Anticipating a spectacular, bloody downfall, they excitedly swarmed the door.

They had warned Elena. They knew she was digging her own grave by deeply offending Bancroft's richest man. Now, karma had finally caught up to the arrogant duo. Pushing against each other, the Stantons peeked eagerly inside the gap of the door, gleefully expecting to watch Elena and Kaelen trembling pathetically before the furious billionaire.
