"No, I'm not callin' 'cause you're in trouble," I cut him off. "I need to talk to you. Your ol' lady around?"

I heard some shuffling in the background.

"Be right back, baby," he said to Valerie. A few minutes later he spoke to me again. "Alright, go on."

"I'm just going to come right out and say it," I told him. "I found Maeve. She's back."

Silence.

"Sorry, you found her?" he asked.
