“Why were Dad and Aurelia fighting earlier? I could hear yelling,” Cal asked during the tutoring session.

I tensed at his words; I didn’t want to tell him the whole truth because it would only hurt him to find out it was his sister who tried to poison him a few months ago. I had to protect Cal from the awful truth; I knew Aurelia felt guilty about it and that Cal wasn’t in any danger, b
