Kaelen’s entire body went rigid beside me.

“What hurts?” he demanded instantly, all traces of softness vanishing and gets replaced by pure panic. Shit. I instantly regretted saying anything at all, not wanting to worry him even more.

The pain eased just as quickly as it had come, leaving behind only a faint ache low in my stomach. Not unbearable and hopefully not enough to terrify ever
