Orion walked into my office shortly after midnight, and one look at his face told me the trip had not gone the way either of us had expected.

He closed the door behind him, waited until it latched, then lowered himself into the chair across from my desk without saying a word.

"The caretaker remembered Cleo," he said at last. "But she also told me something that changes everything."
