A Perfect Match

The front door clicked shut behind Warren and Sienna as they stepped into the Caldwell residence. Before Sienna could even drop her keys onto the entryway table, two figures shifted on the plush living room sofa. Chloe and Brenda were already waiting, their eyes tracking her every move.

Chloe’s lips curled into a practiced, sympathetic smile that barely masked her sadistic pleasure over the recent online bashing. She stood up and crossed her arms. "Hey, Sienna," Chloe called out, her voice ringing with patronizing concern. "Did you catch wind of that internet trash-talking? Those guys were way out of bounds with you. Don't let it stress you out, okay?"

Brenda didn't miss a beat. She piled on with feigned pity. "Gia and Damon were just being jerks," Brenda said, shaking her head. "Throwing around those stupid labels, claiming you're some kind of moony-eyed embarrassment to the family. It's just too much. I can't believe people are saying those things."

Sienna stopped in the hallway and stared at them. She saw through their transparent attempt to get a furious rise out of her. They wanted tears. They wanted a screaming match. She wasn't going to give them a single scrap of satisfaction. Without offering a word of rebuttal, she turned her back, grabbed her bag, and walked straight toward the staircase. She tuned them out, leaving Chloe and Brenda standing there in stunned silence, their malicious zingers bouncing harmlessly off deaf ears.

The night passed in a blur of restless anticipation. At exactly nine o'clock the next morning, her phone buzzed against the nightstand. The caller ID flashed Nolan's name. Sienna snatched it up and answered with bated breath.

"Updates. Now," she demanded.

Nolan’s confident swagger carried through the speaker. "You know it, Sienna. When I'm on the job, nothing stays buried for long. I'm forwarding the files I dug up right now."

A notification dinged from her inbox. His tone shifted, losing its cocky edge and dipping into sharp disgust. "Listen, I'll warn you. The contents are not pretty. These two have been playing dirty games for a long while. Damon is unhinged without your financial backing. The guy has no real standing."

"Thanks, Nolan," Sienna breathed out, her pulse quickening against her throat.

She dropped the phone onto the desk and popped open her laptop. Warren walked into the room, sensing the shift in atmosphere. He stepped up beside her, peering over her shoulder to get a full glimpse of the screen.

Sienna had always considered herself resilient. She thought she was prepared for whatever Nolan found. But as she clicked open the zip file, the sheer volume of evidence hit her stomach like a physical blow.

Dozens of folders expanded across the glaring screen. A massive, undeniable trail of sordid hotel receipts stared back at her. Timestamped photos documented late nights spent at Gia's apartment. Suspicious film set drop-ins were categorized by date. Covert, shared luxury vacations to tropical resorts filled the drive, all billed to credit cards she didn't recognize.

Having a gut suspicion was one thing; staring at categorical proof was another beast entirely. Her heart plummeted in her chest. Her hands trembled over the trackpad as the color drained from her face. The screen blurred slightly as she fought off a wave of nausea. It twisted her gut into tight, agonizing knots.

"Sienna? You still there?" Nolan’s worried voice cut through her breathless silence.

She swallowed hard, fighting the bile rising in her throat. She managed to eke out a faint, hollow acknowledgment. "Yeah. I'm here."

"Damon must've thought he was untouchable," Nolan continued, his voice echoing in the quiet room. "He figured his perfect gentleman act would keep him in the clear. He underestimated what a professional could uncover with a little digging."

Sienna barely heard him. Her gaze locked on a specific folder labeled with hotel reservations. A wry, dark smile tugged at her trembling lips. Bitter amusement washed over her. Damon hadn't even bothered to hide his hotel records. He left a paper trail a mile wide.

*Did he really think I was that clueless?* she thought.

The fragile bubble she had been living in burst. The harsh reality hit her hard. She felt blinded by the raw truth and far more disgusted by their lack of care than she thought humanly possible. Damon hadn't just betrayed her; he had been arrogant and sloppy. She stared at the undeniable evidence, ready to act.
