I could feel disappointment tinged with a bit of anger pulsing through the bond, and I instantly felt bad.

I chewed on my thumb and mumbled, “I’m sorry I should’ve waited to say something.”

He looked at me, and the anger immediately ebbed. “I’m not mad at you,” he said, chuckling. “You just saved us from dying trapped in this tomb.”

He sucked in a breath, eyes traveling down my body, which
