"Do I have to go with him... I am really nervous..." I pleaded, my voice shaking with unshed tears.

My heart still raced from the suffocating tension I had just escaped in that room with Lucian and his mother. Now, Vargas stood in front of me in the long hallway, offering no comfort. He just wanted me to follow orders. The thought of being the Chief's escort to some dangerous mafia
