Tessa and I stepped into the bar, the sound of the pumping music filling our ears. I shook a few snowflakes off my shoulders as we found a seat at a table in the corner, where we could have a private conversation without being in the middle of the dance floor.
“Thanks for coming out with me, Tess,” I said with a small smile. I took off my coat and hung it over the back of my chair. “I didn’t
