Elodie’s POV

He sighed, then moved to the stool.

The cut near his ribs looked worse up close, and the skin was red and slightly swollen. I pulled out some disinfectant and a piece of gauze, my hands shaking slightly even though I tried to steady them.

“This will sting,” I said quietly.
