(**Kira’s POV**)

*A few days later*

Maverick swears he is fine, but she doesn’t believe him. Physically, he has healed from the gunshot wounds, but he has been distant since they released him from the hospital. It has been three days since his release, and he has jumped right back into his nightly routine at the bar.

When she tries to talk to him about Cormac, he shuts the conversation down, pret
