Bria inspected the audience chamber. Her feet sunk into the thick golden runner that led to a dais at the far end of the room. Piles of books and awkwardly placed shelves littered the floor, lit by the morning sun that streamed in from the tall east-facing windows. One particular pile of books had toppled across the carpet, forcing her and Rusk to step over the mess.
