The next morning starts with Jolie kicking my mattress and stage-whisper yelling, "Dad, the woods are awake."
I crack one eye open to gray-blue mountain light and the cold side of the bed where Sienna used to be. "Are they."
"Yes," she says. "Jaxon already peed outside like a raccoon."
That wakes me up the rest of the way.
I drag a hand down my face, throw on a hoodie, and follow her downs
