The truck still smells like coffee and early morning, the faint warmth of it lingering as we roll through familiar streets toward the hospital. Corbin drives one-handed, relaxed in that way he gets when he’s comfortable but alert, like part of him never fully clocks out. The city wakes around us, traffic light and patient, and for a few minutes it feels like nothing shifted at all.
