Chapter Forty-Five

My feet hurt so bad I feel like I lost them somewhere back in the snow. They aren't numb anymore. They burn and throb, and they sting every time they sink through crusted ice. It makes me want to cry, but I don't.

I can't.

I've already cried too much. I cried when I realized he was not behind me anymore. I cried when I realized I might really get away this time. I cried when I thought I was
