The ride back to the house was quiet. Lyra knew something big was going on and it concerned Nikolai. She wanted to know but also didn’t, knowing it would only increase her anxiety. You could cut the growing tension with a knife. But she kept to herself. She knew they were in mafia boss mode and so trying to strike up a conversation would only result in terse words and pushed-
