Valerie's POV

I'm standing by the entrance door of the Vance's mansion, watching Milo and Maisie playing chess. Beatrice was sitting on the couch comfortably, looking at them. At the staircase was Gideon's father who immediately spotted us as we entered the house.

“Kids,” Gideon called the children. Maisie immediately turned to us and her eyes widened. Happiness was twinkling in her eyes.

“Mommy!”
