I am Ready

POV Vanya:

“Vanya?” The unknown female voice echoed directly inside the confines of my mind, cutting right through the blinding physical agony tearing my core apart.

Vulkan continued driving his penis into me, blinded by his own sick pleasure, his heavy weight pressing my face into the mattress. His grunts and the sickening slapping of flesh suddenly sounded a million miles away, replaced by the commanding resonance of this new presence.

“Who are you?” I asked the voice, unsure if I could trust this intrusion or if my fractured mind was simply creating a hallucination to shield me from the trauma of the rape.

“I am your wolf, Nyx.” The entity introduced herself, her tone ringing with undeniable authority. A vivid image manifested in the dark corners of my psyche—a towering wolf with silvery-gray, silky fur and piercing silver eyes that radiated pure dominance.

“Why now?” I demanded, irritation flaring beneath my pain. “After leaving me alone for all these torturous years?”

Nyx stepped closer in my mental space. “I have been patiently waiting in the shadows all along. Watching, listening, and learning about you. I have presented myself before. Do you remember your first survival fight in the cage?”

I shivered against the cold sheets at the memory. I remembered the metallic taste of blood, the relentless kicks to my ribs, and then the suffocating blackness.

“That blackout was me taking over,” Nyx stated, tossing her massive head. “That piece of shit Vulkan was shocked to see that little girl turn.”

The horrifying realization hit me like a physical blow. Vulkan knew. He had known about my half-shift abilities this entire time and purposely kept me suppressed. A raging inferno of anger ignited in my chest, burning away the pain and the helplessness.

“You are stronger than you think, Vanya,” Nyx purred encouragingly against my mental touch, her chest vibrating with anticipation. “Now it is time we show him our true selves.”

“I am ready,” I spoke firmly, my mental voice laced with lethal intent.

An immense, boiling heat erupted through my veins. The fire surged through my nervous system as Nyx took over my physical form. The oppressive darkness in the room snapped back into focus. My heartbeat roared in my ears like a war drum. I felt explosive strength powering my muscles. My nails elongated into razor-sharp claws, and a deep, guttural growl ripped from my chest. Vulkan froze mid-thrust, his sadistic laugh dying on his lips as my body hardened beneath him.

Tapping into this newly discovered power, I slammed my skull backward directly into his face.

I savored the glorious, wet crunch of his cartilage shattering. Bone fragments shifted under the impact. Vulkan screamed in agony, tumbling backward and ripping himself out of me. I did not waste a fraction of a second. I flipped over and pounced on his disoriented body. I clawed at his flesh, tearing ribbons of skin from his chest. I delivered devastating punches to his jaw, operating in a state of pure bloodlust. I slashed and screamed, tearing him apart until the heavy wooden door burst open.

A sudden, searing pain exploded in the side of my neck.

A guard stood in the doorway, a tranquilizer rifle raised. A silver-wolfsbane bullet lodged deep in my muscle. The heavy toxin flooded my bloodstream instantly. I fought back, clawing and kicking at the air, but the poison forcefully dragged my consciousness down into suffocating darkness.

For the next two brutal, blood-soaked years following that incident, Vulkan pushed me to my limits. He constantly tossed me into the fighting rings against significantly bigger and much stronger supernatural opponents, eager to see how much punishment I could take before breaking. But he miscalculated. Nyx and I were a unified front. We trained harder. We fought more viciously, turning his punishments into our own personal forge, and we always ensured we came out of the ring alive.

That violent history brings me to my current, miserable situation. I sit in the pitch-black hole known around the facility as "the pit." I was thrown down here after a recently failed escape attempt. During a transport run, a guard got too occupied trying to feel me up. I wrapped my legs around his neck, snapped his spine, and busted the transport door open, only to be met with a liquid silver-wolfsbane bullet to the shoulder.

I lean against the cold wall, in the painful process of healing from that wound. Even with the silver burning in my flesh, my body has grown a massive tolerance to it.

The sudden, harsh rattling of iron chains echoes off the damp stone walls, followed by the heavy thud of combat boots.

The massive iron door swings open, blinding my adjusted eyes with harsh artificial light.

“Get up! We have an important fight to prepare for,” Vulkan growled menacingly. A sickening, greedy excitement shone clearly in his dark eyes as he stared down at me.

“And if I refuse?” I shot back, openly laughing right at his deepening scowl.

He pointed a finger at the three massive, visibly lustful guards standing close behind him. They eyed my body with a raging thirst. “Then I will allow them to have their way with you.”

“Hah. Like they would survive,” I sneered with pure confidence. I slowly rose to my feet, my muscles coiling in anticipation, and walked right past the men.

Escorted down the moldy hallway by the nervous guards, I am directed into the training area to complete my daily warm-up routine. Vulkan’s idea of a warm-up usually consists of throwing me into a no-holds-barred pit with multiple men to ensure I am properly primed.

Today, he provided five experienced fighters.

Without a shred of hesitation or mercy, I systematically and brutally pummel all five of them to the brink of death. I duck under a sweeping kick, grab the attacker by the throat, and slam his head into the concrete floor. I pivot on my heel, delivering a bone-crushing elbow to the jaw of the second man. The remaining three rush me at once. I drop low, sweeping their legs out from under them, and rain heavy fists down on their faces until their features run slick with crimson.

Nonchalantly flicking the thick blood from my bruised knuckles, I slowly turn to face a boastful Vulkan standing on the other side of the metal grate.

“Bravo! My Vanya, you will definitely make me a handsome payout today,” he gloated, rubbing his hands together in sheer greed. His eyes caught the light, highlighting the twisted scar on his face—my handiwork from two years prior.

“What is so special about this fight?” I asked indifferently. I walked over to the basin in the corner and methodically washed the grime and dried blood from my face. The coolness offered no enjoyment as the murky water splashed back into the algae-coated bucket. I grabbed my fighting clothes and tightly pulled my long, ebony hair up into its signature, practical high ponytail. It acted like a cape, whipping around with extra effect whenever I snapped my head around during fights.

Vulkan puffed out his chest and proudly announced, “The notorious Alpha 'Bloodvoid' Kael has officially requested all skilled and deadly fighters to participate in an upcoming Fighter Championship hosted on his territory.”

“Well, aren’t I just the luckiest girl,” I laughed aloud with a cocky, sarcastic hitch in my voice.

The heavily armed guards nervously approached to shackle my wrists and ankles with heavy iron cuffs. I waited until they were inches away, then purposefully lunged forward. The men flinched backward in terror, scrambling to protect themselves. I smirked, deriving a sliver of amusement from watching the pussies cower.

“Enough! We leave for the Abyss Wolf Clan now,” Vulkan yelled impatiently. He turned sharply on his heel to lead me outside toward a heavily armored transport truck.

The guards secured my chains and shoved me into the back. As the vehicle departed the compound, setting a course for the renowned Abyss Wolf Clan, I leaned back against the cold metal interior. I listened to the engine roar and realized I couldn't give two shits about this supposedly terrifying Alpha or his elite clan. I did not care about his bloody championship or the money Vulkan expected to win.

All I saw was an opening.

A championship meant crowds, chaos, and an unfamiliar territory far away from Vulkan’s fortified base. This might finally be my ultimate chance to escape this hellhole once and for all.

Freedom.
