The dining table was set neatly. Fresh bread. Bowls of salad. Roasted vegetables. That creamy Fettuccine Alfredo her mom promised. It smelled incredible.
I wasn’t exaggerating. The woman could cook. And after dealing with Lara all day, good food was the least I deserved.
I pulled out a chair for her. She gave me a surprised look but sat down without arguing. Her parents joined us a second la
