The conference room was freezing, but it wasn’t the room temperature that had me uncomfortable. It was her.

Lara sat across the table, tapping away at her tablet, all composed and cool in that damn pencil skirt. She hadn’t looked at me once since we walked in here, and maybe that should’ve been a relief. It wasn’t. It was pissing me off more than I cared to admit.

I shifted in my seat, jaw t
