He was earnest, wearing his heart on his sleeve. I knew his pulse had quickened with his question. I could hear it in my ears.

A part of me was tempted, I couldn’t deny that. The cottage had been a comfort, a nice little escape from reality for a while, where I had learned Leon and came to trust him. In another world, another life, maybe I would make the choice he wanted of me.
