The first thing I register is the cold.

It clings to me like a wet sheet, chilling my skin and making me shiver. It’s almost unbearable, but not the most painful. Not the most terrifying. That comes from the restraints on my wrists and legs.

I’m bound and cuffed, with ropes.

And there’s a metallic taste in my mouth.

I open my eyes and the bright lights straight up hit me from all four
