I'll Blow Your Head Off

Serena bolted out of the restroom, leaving her pepper spray abandoned on the cold tile floor. She didn't dare stop to pick it up, terrified that the men inside would recover and burst through the door at any second. Her chest heaved violently, sucking in the stale, alcohol-scented air of the chaotic, flashing corridor as sheer terror propelled her forward. Severely drugged and trembling violently, her pulse thundered a frantic rhythm against her eardrums, nearly drowning out the heavy bass of the club's sound system.

The powerful sedatives roaring through her bloodstream were rapidly tearing apart her motor functions. Her peripheral vision violently blurred at the edges, smudging the neon lights into bleeding, disorienting streaks of color. She dragged herself desperately through the endless, thumping corridors of the club, leaning heavily against the cool walls to keep her swaying body upright. Her legs felt completely uncoordinated and heavy, as if she were trying to sprint through wet cement, and the steep stilettos strapped to her feet were making every step an agonizing challenge.

She absolutely had to find an exit. Going back toward the pulsating music of the main floor and the VIP section was a guaranteed death sentence; Corbin would be waiting right there with his filthy, suffocating grasp, ready to drag her away.

Desperate to avoid his waiting clutches, she strayed far from the chaotic crowds, pushing her weight through unmarked, heavy wooden doors until she stumbled into a dark, eerily quiet hallway. The stark contrast was jarring. The air here was stagnant and chilled, devoid of the thumping bass she had just escaped. Serena leaned heavily against the cool, unforgiving concrete wall to support her failing, heavy legs.

Suddenly, she froze in her tracks, her breath catching painfully in her raw throat.

At the very end of the dim corridor, illuminated only by a flickering overhead light, stood the arrogant man from earlier at the bar—Dominic.

But he wasn't alone. Facing him was another man slumped pathetically on the filthy floor, aggressively clutching his bleeding side as he gasped for air.

"Please… I didn’t mean to…" the wounded man begged, his voice cracking with raw, unfiltered desperation as he stared up at the towering, menacing figure standing over him.

Before Serena's drug-addled brain could fully process the lethal danger unfolding right in front of her, the arrogant man smoothly raised a handgun. His posture was terrifyingly calm, completely devoid of a single ounce of hesitation.

The gunshot rang out, sharp, brutal, and absolutely deafening in the heavy, oppressive silence of the hallway.

Serena’s horrified scream violently tore free from her throat before she could even attempt to clamp her shaking hand over her mouth to suppress it. The shooter whipped around instantly at the sound. His dark, lethal eyes locked directly onto her paralyzed form, pinning her in place.

Moments earlier, Dominic had stood perfectly still on the club's elevated VIP balcony. A hot, simmering annoyance radiated from his rigid posture as he stared intensely down at the crowded floor below.

His sharp, predatory gaze was locked directly onto her—the infuriating, clumsy brunette who had audaciously poured three sticky drinks all over his expensive, custom-tailored suit. Now, she was draped seductively over Corbin Vance, leaning into the man's personal space with a sickening level of intimacy.

Dominic's massive hands gripped the cold metal balcony railing tightly, his knuckles turning white. He knew all about Corbin Vance. The man possessed a notoriously filthy reputation for illicit affairs, brutal abuse, and chewing up vulnerable women behind closed doors. Looking at the pathetic scene playing out below, Dominic easily pegged the brunette as just another desperate, gold-digging opportunist fully willing to sell her body for a taste of luxury and a fat payout.

Yet, watching her act so intimately with a piece of trash like Corbin inexplicably irritated him. It was a maddening, persistent itch right under his skin that he simply couldn't scratch. She had looked so defensive, almost innocent, when he had called her out for exactly what she was at the bar, but clearly, it had all been a practiced act.

His dark, swirling thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the heavy footsteps of his lead security guard approaching from behind.

"Sir," the guard stated, his tone low and strictly professional. "The two specific men we tracked for the drug planting are on the move. They realize we're actively sweeping the club for them."

Dominic instantly straightened his towering frame, aggressively shoving his lingering, irrational annoyance about the brunette completely aside. Work always came first, and he had rats to exterminate. "Show me."

The guard immediately handed over a digital tablet, bringing up the frozen security footage. Dominic stared at the two grainy faces on the glowing screen. With his flawless photographic memory, he memorized their specific features, builds, and clothing in mere seconds.

"Spread out and lock down the exits," Dominic commanded, handing the tablet back. Without another glance at the dance floor, he went straight on the hunt.

His targeted search led him swiftly away from the pulsating chaos of the main club and directly into the restricted, dimly lit back corridors. The air grew stale, and the shadows deepened the further he went.

As he stalked past a row of locked utility doors, an ambush came completely out of nowhere from the deep shadows.

A heavy fist swung viciously toward his head, but Dominic's highly trained reflexes were infinitely sharper than the thug's desperate, uncoordinated attack. He effortlessly sidestepped the incoming, clumsy punch, feeling the displaced air breeze past his jaw. Without missing a single beat, Dominic reached out and grabbed the attacker's wrist in a vise-like grip. Using the man's own momentum against him, he twisted the arm violently behind the thug's back until the shoulder joint popped out of its socket, and slammed the man face-first right into the unforgiving concrete wall.

"You picked the wrong person and on the wrong day," Dominic growled, his voice dropping into a lethal, terrifying purr.

The goon thrashed wildly against the bloody concrete, trying to land a blind, desperate hit on Dominic's side, but it only fueled his ruthless anger. Dominic easily disarmed the struggling goon, knocking the weapon away so it skittered uselessly across the floor. Drawing his arm back, Dominic delivered a brutal, bone-crunching blow directly to the man's jaw. The sickening sound of bone fracturing echoed loudly in the narrow space, sending the man crumpling into a pathetic, groaning heap on the floor.

The bleeding man looked up, his eyes wide with stark terror as Dominic drew his own suppressed weapon.

"Please… I didn’t mean to…" the wounded man begged, his voice cracking with raw, unfiltered desperation.

Dominic didn't even let the absolute scum finish his pathetic sentence. His expression remained utterly blank as he pulled the trigger, firing a single, fatal shot directly into the man's chest.

As the lethal gunshot echoed down the concrete walls, a sudden, high-pitched scream violently shattered the lingering silence.

Dominic snapped his gaze instantly down the long hall. His ice-blue eyes narrowed dangerously as he saw her—the infuriating woman from the bar.

She was completely pale, trembling violently in her heels, staring in absolute horror at the fresh corpse bleeding out on the ground. She looked exactly like a helpless deer caught in the blinding headlights of an oncoming truck, completely paralyzed by the sheer terror of what she had just witnessed.

"Don't run," Dominic warned coldly, raising his smoking gun without a single second thought. He aimed the dark, hollow barrel directly at her face, his finger resting lightly on the trigger. "I'll blow your head off if you try."

She stood completely frozen in place. Her chest heaved frantically as the potent drugs coursing through her veins clearly warred with her sheer, unadulterated terror. She looked like she couldn't decide whether to pass out or bolt for the nearest exit.

Dominic slowly stalked closer, his weapon unwavering and his posture tightly coiled. He closed the distance between them with deliberate, terrifying steps, like a massive predator effortlessly cornering a wounded, trapped animal.

"You've got some nerve to have followed…" Dominic started, ready to demand exactly who she was truly working for and how much she had heard.

Suddenly, a sharp, biting pain violently pierced the right side of his neck.

Dominic flinched hard. His free hand instinctively flew up to the wound. His long, calloused fingers brushed against the rigid end of a small, metallic syringe sticking directly out of his skin.

His ice-blue eyes widened in absolute, staggering disbelief as he looked down at her trembling frame and realized exactly what she had just done to him. The little gold digger had actually stabbed him with an injection.

"I swear, I'm going to kill…" Dominic snarled, stepping aggressively forward and reaching out with his massive hand to crush her throat.

But the world violently tilted on its axis around him. His muscular limbs instantly turned to heavy lead as the potent sedative she had jammed into his neck rapidly surged through his veins, aggressively hijacking his entire nervous system. His vision blurred into a dizzying smear of dark shadows and harsh light.

"You little…"

Before he could even finish his deadly threat, his eyes rolled back into his head. All the strength instantly vanished from his towering frame, and he collapsed heavily to the cold concrete floor, his massive body hitting the ground with a dull, echoing thud.

Serena stood there swaying dangerously over his unconscious form, gasping desperately for breath. The empty metallic syringe remained tightly clutched in her violently shaking hand. Her heart battered relentlessly against her ribs, the sheer adrenaline temporarily holding back the heavy club drugs that were still desperately trying to pull her under.

Knowing she had absolutely no time to waste and that more guards could appear at any second, she forced her heavy legs to move. She turned and ran once again into the consuming shadows of the corridor.
