The Missing Pup
"How the fuck do you possibly manage to lose a one-year-old baby?!" Kavros’s furious roar violently shattered the opulent silence of the Valkar Pyramid.
He paced the extravagant hall like a caged, bloodthirsty beast, his heavy boots thudding against the pristine marble floors as he aggressively barked at his siblings. The heavy, suffocating burden of the blame fell entirely on Zavros. The twin merely leaned his broad shoulders against the wall, crossing his arms with a shameless, unbothered shrug.
"I merely closed my eyes for a moment," Zavros admitted casually, looking completely unrepentant. "There was this passing girl. She had great tits and a pair of irresistible 'fuck me' eyes. I was supposed to be on active baby duty, sure, but I got highly distracted."
Kavros stepped aggressively into Zavros's personal space, his handsome face twisting in profound disgust. The sheer audacity of his brother's excuse boiled his Alpha blood. "Do you ever think of absolutely anything besides pussy?" he demanded loudly, his voice echoing off the vaulted stone ceilings.
Zavros didn't even flinch. He offered a lazy, arrogant smirk, fully leaning into his unapologetic nature. "Yes. My dick."
Before the physical tension between the twins could escalate into a full-blown brawl, Nyktos stepped firmly between them. The eldest and most commanding of the brothers cut through the bickering with a sharp, authoritative voice that demanded instant submission from everyone in the room.
"It absolutely does not matter who was responsible for losing the one-year-old girl," Nyktos sternly reminded them, his dark eyes flashing with warning. "The only thing that matters right now is mobilizing immediately to find her before something catastrophic happens."
Taking immediate tactical charge of the situation, Kavros harshly ordered his brothers. "Split up. Transform. Thoroughly scour every inch of this vast campus. Leave no stone unturned."
Nearly an hour later, massive, terrifying wolves emerged silently from the dark tree line of the surrounding woods. Their massive paws aggressively tore up the damp grass as they converged outside the moonlit, black-marble exterior of the Valkar Sanctum.
In a fluid ripple of muscle and bone, the beasts shifted back into their towering human forms. Sylas, Nyktos, and the campus beta, Kaelar Thorne, stood rigidly under the moonlight. They quickly reported their utter failure, having found absolutely no trace of the infant in any of the southern sectors.
Kavros actively radiated a terrifying aura of unchecked anger and deep, clawing frustration. With a vicious snarl, he pulled his massive fist back and punched a thick tree trunk nearby. The sheer, terrifying physical force of his Alpha strength snapped the massive wood entirely in half. A deafening crack echoed through the night as the canopy crashed violently to the forest floor, sending a dense cloud of dirt and dead leaves flying into the freezing air.
Nyktos stepped forward, his long hair blowing wildly in the biting night wind. He grimly admitted the harsh reality. "We have physically searched everywhere. Even my wide-net distress calls to the extended pack members have yielded absolutely nothing."
An incredibly tense, heavy silence blanketed the five massive men, broken only by the rustling of the fallen tree. It was finally shattered when Kaelar cleared his throat.
"There's a location we haven't checked," Kaelar tentatively suggested, shifting his weight under the intense, glowing stares of the Alphas. "The Hollow."
Kaelar carefully continued, swallowing hard. "Is it at all possible that one of the degraded Nulls managed to somehow sneak into the pyramid? Maybe they got hold of the baby as an act of desperate revenge against the elite."
Zavros immediately seized on the theory. He pointed an accusatory finger at the Beta. "Your feral, highly aggressive step-sister just arrived on campus today. The timing is a little too perfect to be a coincidence."
Kavros paused. A dark, dangerous smirk slowly spread across his handsome face as he vividly remembered Vespera's fiery, violent nature from earlier that day. He mused aloud, his voice dripping with venomous amusement. "She is certainly defiant enough to pull a stunt exactly like this. I have to mockingly applaud her sheer audacity. She is the only person to ever successfully attempt to strike me."
Nyktos nodded in grim, calculated agreement. "We should cross the campus immediately. It's time to aggressively interrogate the Nulls and tear that basement apart."
Before they shifted, Kavros turned his glowing, predatory eyes directly onto Kaelar. He issued a dark, deadly serious warning that hung heavily in the freezing air. "You had better pray to the Gods it isn’t your step-sister who took the child, Kaelar. Because if it is, she is fucking done for."
Shifting violently back into their towering, monstrous wolf forms, the group sprinted at breakneck speeds across the dark, sprawling campus. They followed closely behind their furious Alpha, their heavy paws chewing up the dirt in a desperate, rage-fueled race against time.
Arriving at the dilapidated, ruined entrance of the Hollow, Kavros didn't even bother with the handle. He lifted his muscular leg and shattered the rickety, locked wooden doors entirely off their rusted hinges with a single, devastating kick of his heel. Wood splintered violently into the dark stairwell, clearing the path.
Shifting back into their human forms, the five massive men silently stalked down the dimly lit, freezing cavern. They moved effortlessly through the shadows like lethal hunters closing in on their prey. They were drawn inevitably forward by a sound that made their blood run cold with relief and hot with rage: the soft, unmistakable giggling of a baby, mixed tightly with the hushed, frightened voices of the underground students.
Stepping forcefully into a slightly brighter room deeper within the basement, the five men froze completely in their tracks. Their eyes widened in collective, burning shock at the unbelievable scene unfolding directly before them.
The terrified Nulls were gathered closely together in a tight, protective circle. But the brothers' burning gazes bypassed them completely, locking onto the target in the middle. Sitting right in the very center of the group, perched on a miserable, dirt-stained cot, was Kaelar’s step-sister.
Vespera.
She was securely and tenderly cradling their missing baby in her arms, entirely caught red-handed.
