You Are Going Too Far
Snapping out of his momentary, paralyzed shock, Vito violently shoved past the frozen onlookers and swiftly stepped forward to fiercely support his collapsing, wailing son. He grabbed Lucca’s shoulders, his seasoned eyes immediately examining the grotesque, unnatural angle of the limb. As his fingers brushed the severely and cleanly broken bone, Vito realized with mounting, explosive fury that this was no simple fracture. The boy’s arm was entirely shattered, the bone snapped with a ruthless, calculated precision that guaranteed months of agonizing recovery.
Humiliated beyond belief in front of Harrington's entire elite society, Vito’s initial, somewhat measured plan to merely maim the ex-convict to teach him a brutal lesson violently twisted into an absolute, lethal resolve. The Morello Family patriarch felt his face reddening with an uncontrollable, bloodthirsty rage. He snapped his head up and roared at Julian, the veins in his neck bulging against his tailored collar. "How dare a lowly bastard like you hurt my only son? I'm going to personally kill you!"
Screaming his bloody promise to the grand hall, Vito immediately raised his hand, digging into his suit jacket to retrieve his phone. He frantically dialed, summoning his elite, highly-trained martial arts bodyguards from the perimeter of the hotel estate. These were no street-level thugs; they were seasoned killers bought with a king's ransom, loyal only to the Morello bloodline and built to execute brutal mafia justice.
Despite the rapidly escalating, life-threatening situation unfolding right before him, Julian remained entirely and infuriatingly unbothered. He didn't flinch. He didn't take a defensive stance. Instead, he calmly reached over to a miraculously unbroken table, picked up a clean glass of water, and languidly took a slow sip. His eyes were completely deadpan, staring right through the enraged mafia boss as if the man were nothing but air.
This blatant, silent disrespect further inflamed the Morellos to a boiling point. Clutching his shattered arm against his chest, Lucca shrieked wildly, his face hideously contorted in blinding, agonizing pain. "Kill him, Dad! I want him dead! Kill him right now!"
Vito loudly swore to the entire trembling room, his voice echoing with absolute menace, "Don't worry, Lucca! I swear to God I will personally toss his mutilated corpse into the river to feed the fishes today!" But despite his vicious, roaring threats, Vito was a seasoned martial artist himself. He recognized the terrifying, effortless power behind Julian's strike. He held his ground cautiously, strictly waiting for his trained killers to arrive before making a definitive move.
The thick, murderous tension suffocating the lavish room was suddenly interrupted when the heavy double doors of the banquet hall were briskly pushed open. Jolene strode in, her heels clicking sharply against the marble floor as she came to investigate the massive commotion on behalf of her father.
As her eyes scanned the decimated room—the shattered glass, the cowering elite guests, the wailing groom—she froze in absolute shock upon seeing the target of the crowd's wrath. Entirely stupefied to find the young man who had just miraculously saved her father standing calmly at the epicenter of this violent chaos, she cried out, "Mr. Valenti? How could it be you?"
Seeing the heiress of the hotel intervene in the middle of his blood feud, Vito aggressively demanded answers. "What business do you have with this attacker, Jolene? This kid dared to cause a scene at my son's wedding and deliberately injure him. There will be an absolute bloodbath at your hotel today."
Jolene quickly stammered out an explanation, her hands raised slightly to de-escalate. "Mr. Morello, there must be a huge mix-up. Mr. Valenti is exclusively here to treat my ailing father. This all has to be a simple misunderstanding!" She firmly stated her case, desperately hoping to diffuse the highly volatile situation before it erupted into an all-out war on her property.
Hearing this, Vito frowned deeply in genuine confusion. Treat her father? But before he could process the sheer absurdity of the claim, it was Sasha who violently and bitterly interjected.
Still clutching the heavy layers of her ruined wedding dress, the bride glared at Julian with absolute, unadulterated contempt. She stepped forward, pointing a manicured finger right at his face. "Who are you trying to fool? What absolute nonsense are you spouting?" she loudly accused Jolene, vehemently declaring to the entire terrified room that this lowly fellow didn't possess any medical skills whatsoever.
"He is nothing but a thug who was just released from prison today!" Sasha shrieked, her voice shrill and desperate to completely destroy his credibility. Eager to ruin him in front of Harrington's high society, she maliciously exposed their four-year university romance to prove her point. "I know exactly what he is capable of! We dated for years. Even when I was severely sick in the past, I had to go to a real hospital! And do you know how I got there? He pathetically carried me there on his back in the heavy rain because he couldn't even afford a ride!"
She crossed her arms, triumphantly arguing her case to the crowd. "If he actually possessed any real medical skills, I would never have had to visit a hospital in the first place! Don't be fooled by this worthless loser!"
Fully understanding the bitter, twisted history behind Julian's wedding crash after hearing Sasha's venomous, spiteful rant, Jolene's expression completely hardened. She looked at the woman in the wedding gown and realized exactly what kind of shallow betrayal had taken place. However, she remained completely steadfast in her loyalty to the man who held her father's life in his hands.
Shooting back coldly, Jolene asserted, "I am perfectly capable of deciding for myself whether his skills are true or not. Just because you never saw it doesn't mean he lacks the ability."
Driven by a desperate, unwavering need to protect her father's only hope for a permanent cure, Jolene boldly moved directly in front of Julian. She planted her feet firmly, using her own slender body as a physical shield between the calm young man and the enraged mafia patriarch. She stared down the furious Vito Morello and firmly declared, "No, you can't hurt Mr. Valenti! I won't allow it!"
Vito’s expression instantly turned glacial, his last shred of patience entirely depleted. The murderous intent in his eyes darkened as he stepped forward, coldly asking, "Are you intentionally forcing my hand, Jolene? Do not interfere in this."
Right on cue, the heavy double doors at the back of the hall burst open with a deafening crash. Dozens of the Morello Family’s imposing, elite bodyguards barged into the hall. They moved with terrifying, synchronized precision, radiating an incredibly oppressive, murderous aura that instantly suffocated the remaining oxygen in the room.
Refusing to yield an inch, Jolene stood her ground bravely. Seeing their employer in direct, mortal danger, more than a dozen of the hotel’s own security guards frantically rushed in, forming a hasty defensive line to shield Jolene.
The lavish banquet hall instantly descended into a terrifying, heavily armed standoff. The wealthy guests—Harrington's most powerful merchants and socialites—scattered frantically, screaming in pure terror as they pressed themselves against the far walls, deathly afraid of being caught in the imminent, bloody crossfire.
Stripping away all remaining societal courtesy and respect for the Sterling name, Vito snarled viciously at Jolene. "Girl, I could easily kill you at any moment if it weren't for my lingering respect for your father's status! Step aside right this moment! Do you honestly think these measly security guards can stop me?"
Upon his harsh command, his elite guards stepped forward in unison. They unleashed a dense, menacing martial aura that rolled across the floor like a physical weight. The terrifying display of sheer combat readiness instantly petrified Jolene’s ordinary security team, completely draining the color from their terrified faces as they realized they were vastly outmatched.
Jolene herself paled significantly under the crushing, suffocating pressure of dozens of trained killers locking their sights on her. Yet, despite her fear, she stubbornly remained resolutely planted right in front of Julian, her shoulders trembling slightly but her feet absolutely unmoving.
Just as the explosive violence threatened to boil over into a wholesale massacre right on the bloody banquet floor, the main doors slowly swung open once more.
A heavy, absolute, and authoritative silence instantly fell over the chaotic room as William Sterling walked in. His posture was utterly rigid, and a distinct, dark trace of deep displeasure was permanently etched across his aged, powerful face.
Ignoring the dozens of armed men, he stared directly at his rival. William coldly asked, "Morello, don't you think you're going far too far by using your power to scare a child when you are already so up in years?"
