Chapter 36: Pounding Heart

Elara’s POV

Her words felt like a sharp slap across my face.

Conrad stood frozen in place, eyes wide with shock. Then his expression quickly shifted from confusion to excitement.

“Lilith... a baby? Really?!” he cried, his voice trembling.

Lilith nodded, tears filling her eyes as she clung to his arm.

“I just found out this morning,” she sniffled, “the doctor said I’m two months along.”
