Mrs. Sterling heard Elara's question and a mocking smile spread across her face. She looked her up and down as if she were a clueless clown.

"What if you don't?" Mrs. Sterling repeated Elara's words, her tone tinged with sneer. "Elara, don't you have any idea of your current status?"

She stood up and looked down at Elara. "How much do you make in a month with your current job? It's a disgrace to o
