The Brutal Betrayal

Willa’s POV

The clicking of my heels against the polished marble floor of the hotel lobby sounded like a countdown. Every sharp *tap-tap-tap* echoed through the cavernous, gold-leafed space, marking the seconds until I would finally be Mrs. Sloane Vanderbilt. I smoothed down the fabric of my white crop top, the word 'BRIDE' emblazoned across my chest in shimmering silver sequins. Sloane had bought it for me, a playful gift for our wedding day. It felt a little daring, showing a sliver of skin, but today was the day I’d finally give him everything.

I reached the reception desk, my heart fluttering with a mix of nerves and pure, unadulterated joy. This was a private ceremony. No prying eyes, no family drama—just us and the officiant in a penthouse suite that probably cost more than my entire college tuition.

“Hi. I have a reservation. Willa Sterling,” I said, beaming at the woman behind the desk.

The receptionist didn’t return the smile. She slowly lifted her head, her gaze raking over me with a look of such intense disgust that my smile faltered. Her lips, painted a deep, blood-red, pulled back into a sneer as she took in my 'BRIDE' top and my messy, excited ponytail.

“You’re kidding, right?” she scoffed. She didn't even look at her screen; she just turned to the woman standing next to her, who wore a matching expression of derision.

I blinked, my brow furrowing in confusion. The air in the lobby suddenly felt several degrees colder. “Excuse me? I have a reservation for the penthouse. For the wedding.”

The two women exchanged a look that made my skin crawl. It was a look of shared secrets and mockery.

“Look, honey,” the red-lipped receptionist said, tilting her head with a patronizing tilt. “You already checked in two hours ago. If this is some kind of pathetic prank, I’d suggest you quit it now before I call security and have you escorted out.”

A nervous, breathless laugh escaped my throat. “What? I haven’t checked in. I just got here from the salon. There must be some mistake.”

The second receptionist leaned in, her eyes narrowed. “Show her,” she muttered to her colleague.

Red-lips scowled but turned her laptop around, clicking a few keys. She pointed at the digital check-in log with a long, manicured nail. There it was, in black and white: *Willa Sterling. Checked In: 2:14 PM.*

“Oh!” I let out a sigh of relief, though my heart was still hammering a frantic rhythm against my ribs. “It’s probably my fiancé. Sloane. He must have checked in under my name to save time. I was supposed to beat him here, but traffic was a nightmare. That’s why I’m so surprised.”

The receptionists didn’t look relieved for me. If anything, their confusion deepened, twisting into something that looked horribly like pity.

“That’s not a very funny joke, miss,” the second one said quietly. “You checked in with a man two hours ago. I know it was you because I complimented that exact same top you’re wearing. The 'BRIDE' one.”

I froze. I looked down at my chest. Sloane had told me he’d only bought one. He said it was special. Unique. Just for me.

“And then you told us you were getting married real soon,” Red-lips added, her voice losing some of its edge, replaced by a strange, hollow tone.

Something heavy—a cold, leaden weight—dropped into the pit of my stomach. My lungs felt like they were shrinking, unable to pull in enough air.

“This has to be a misunderstanding…” I trailed off, my voice barely a whisper.

No. There was no way. Jade wouldn’t. She hadn’t even been in the state for two years. We hadn't spoken since the fallout after our mother’s funeral. She didn’t even know Sloane. I’d kept him a secret, a precious part of my life that I didn't want her toxic energy to touch.

“That wasn’t me,” I said, my voice firmer now, fueled by a rising tide of panic. “I’m Willa Sterling. I have my ID. Look.” I fumbled with my purse, pulling out my driver's license and slamming it onto the marble counter.

They looked at the ID, then back at me. The pity in their eyes was now unmistakable. It was the way people looked at a car crash—horrified, but unable to turn away.

Red-lips sighed, the hostility draining out of her, replaced by a weary resignation. She reached under the counter and pulled out a spare key card.

“I hope you get things sorted out,” she muttered, forcing a tight, uncomfortable smile. “Penthouse B.”

I took the card with trembling fingers. I didn't say thank you. I couldn't. I turned and walked toward the elevators, my legs feeling like lead. Each step felt like I was wading through deep, dark water.

*It’s just a mistake,* I told myself as the elevator doors slid shut, the gold-mirrored interior reflecting a woman who looked like she was heading to her own execution. *Jade isn't here. She doesn't even know where we are. Sloane loves me. He’s been waiting for tonight. He said our first time should be sacred. He said he wanted to wait until I was his wife.*

But the seed of doubt had been planted, and it was growing into a thorny, choking vine.

The elevator chimed. The doors opened to a private foyer with thick, plush carpeting that muffled the sound of my footsteps. I stood before the heavy mahogany doors of Penthouse B, the key card clutched so tightly in my hand that the plastic bit into my palm.

I didn't knock. I couldn't bring myself to. Instead, I held the card to the reader. It flashed green with a soft, electronic *chirp* that sounded like a scream in the silence of the hallway.

I pushed the door open, but I didn't step in. Not yet.

The sound hit me first.

It wasn't the sound of a wedding preparation. It wasn't the sound of Sloane's voice calling out my name in greeting.

It was the wet, rhythmic sound of flesh hitting flesh. It was the sound of heavy, guttural groans and high-pitched, breathless moans. It was the sound of a woman being thoroughly, ruthlessly fucked.

My bag slipped from my hand, hitting the floor with a soft *thud* that went unnoticed by the occupants of the room. I stepped into the foyer, my eyes wide, my vision blurring as the reality of the scene before me tore through my soul.

The penthouse was beautiful, filled with white roses and expensive champagne on ice, but all I saw was the bed.

My twin sister, Jade, was straddled over my fiancé. Her back was arched, her head thrown back as she gripped the headboard for leverage. She was stark naked, her skin flushed a deep pink. Sloane was beneath her, his hands buried in her hair, pulling her head down so he could bite at her neck while his hips bucked upward with violent force.

He was deep inside her. I could see the way his thick, veined penis disappeared into her wetness with every thrust, the sound of their bodies colliding echoing off the high ceilings.

I stood paralyzed. For a fleeting, pathetic second, my brain tried to offer me a lifeline. *Maybe he doesn't know. We're identical. He thinks she's me.*

But the thought died instantly. Sloane and I had been together for a year. He had spent every day of that year telling me how much he respected me, how he wanted to wait for our wedding night to finally claim me. He had never even seen me fully naked. He had insisted on "purity."

And here he was, burying himself in my sister with a feral intensity I’d never seen from him.

“Mmhm, yes. That’s it, baby,” Jade moaned, her voice a sharp contrast to the silence in my soul. “You fuck me so good, babe. Faster. Give it to me.”

Something inside me snapped. The world tilted on its axis, and the girl who walked into this hotel—the girl who believed in soulmates and silver sequins—died right there on the threshold.

“Jade…?”

My voice was a cracked, broken thing.

“Sloane?”

The rhythm stopped abruptly.

They both turned at the same time. Sloane’s eyes went wide, a flash of genuine surprise crossing his handsome face before it smoothed into a cold, impenetrable mask. Jade didn't look surprised at all. She looked triumphant.

Sloane didn't scramble for a towel. He didn't try to hide his nakedness. He simply pushed Jade off him, his spent, glistening cock sliding out of her with a wet pop. Jade let out a long, exaggerated moan as she rolled onto the silk sheets.

“Seriously, Slo? I was close,” she complained, her voice airy and light, as if I weren't standing there with my heart bleeding on the floor.

*Slo?*

“Willa,” Sloane said, his voice heavy with exertion as he stood up from the bed. He was magnificent and terrifying in his nudity, his body lean and muscular, covered in a light sheen of sweat. He didn't even bother to cover his junk, which was already beginning to stir again as he looked at me. “I swear, I thought she was you. I didn’t—I thought you’d arrived early.”

He started to walk toward me, reaching out a hand as if to comfort me, but I jerked back with a snarl of pure Revulsion. My eyes were locked on Jade.

She was sitting up now, leaning back on her elbows, her breasts pushed forward. She had a smug, predatory grin on her face as she ran a hand through her tangled hair.

“Oh, please, baby,” she said, her voice dripping with malice. “It’s time we cut the act, don’t you think? It’s getting too pathetic, even for her.”

Sloane stopped walking. He turned back to look at Jade, a slow, dark smirk spreading across his lips. “Come on, Jay. It was fun while it lasted.”

I felt like I was drowning. “What is… what are you…?”

The words wouldn't come. My brain was trying to process the level of calculation this required. They didn't just meet. They knew each other. They were comfortable in their nakedness, comfortable in their shared betrayal.

But I hadn't seen Jade in two years. I had never introduced them.

“How—”

Jade let out a sharp, mocking laugh as she stood up. She walked toward Sloane, her movements fluid and confident. She was completely naked, showing off the body that was a mirror image of mine, yet felt so utterly alien.

“She’s going into shock, baby. We should put her out of her misery right away, shouldn’t we?” she mused, stopping right in front of Sloane.

She reached out, her fingers trailing down his chest, before she grabbed his jaw and pulled him down into a deep, possessive kiss. I watched, unable to move, as her tongue slid into his mouth. She let out a soft moan against his lips, her eyes staying open, locked onto mine with a look of pure, unadulterated triumph.

I wanted to run. I wanted to scream. But my feet were glued to the floor. I was a spectator at the destruction of my own life.

Jade broke the kiss, her hand traveling down Sloane’s body. She gripped his penis in her hand, her fingers wrapping around the thick shaft and jerking it back and forth with a practiced rhythm. Her eyes never left mine.

“Y–you said…” I struggled to find my voice. It sounded like it belonged to a stranger. “You said you weren’t ready to have sex yet, Sloane. You said you’d wait till we were married. You said it was because you loved me.”

Sloane threw his head back and laughed. It was a cold, hollow sound that echoed through the room like a gunshot. He let out a low groan as Jade continued to stroke him, his body reacting to her touch with a betrayal of its own.

My knees buckled. I had to reach out and grab the doorframe to keep from collapsing.

“I thought you loved me!” I screamed, the tears finally breaking through, hot and stinging as they blurred the sight of my fiancé being pleasure by my sister.

Jade let go of him, a bored expression crossing her face. Sloane took a few steps closer to me. He didn't look guilty. He didn't look sorry. He looked like a man who had finally finished a tedious chore.

He reached out, and before I could flinch, his hand clamped around my jaw. His grip was painfully tight, his fingers digging into my skin as he forced me to look up into his cold, dark eyes.

“You thought I loved you, Willa? No. Jay’s the love of my life.”
